Stoke the Fires

Posted in Diaries by Cameron Goble

Editor extraordinaire John Lore (wait — wasn’t he the DP? OH WAIT, HE’S BOTH) just breezed into town. We’re planning a Sunday night dinner at which point I’ll take a look at the initial edit he’s got for me! Whoo!

Then I’ll slip him a mickie and start negotiating contracts. Should be an eventful night!

So Where the Hell Is It?

Posted in Diaries by Cameron Goble

I’m happy to report that production of In The Wind proceeds apace. Admittedly, I did get distracted by grad school, the crew dispersed to the far flung corners of the Earth, and the footage sat in a box for eight months.

We’re all better now.

Last week, John Lore came back to Albuquerque — did you know he and his band The United moved to San Fransisco? Anyway, we put our heads together. After hours of wrangling with an uncooperative computer, we wrestled our editing process into shape. The footage is now all prepped to go: a significant step forward in the post-production phase.

So where the hell is it? It’s in the works. It’s still up and running. It’s on the slow track to a well-deserved Oscar nomination. But it’s getting there.

LA Woman

Posted in Diaries by Cameron Goble

Director Sabina Zuniga-Varela recently packed up shop and headed out west to LA! She was kind enough to send back a photo montage of her trip. Cats, apartments, sight-seeing: it’s all there. Here’s a taste of her high-flying LA lifestyle.

And a whole slideshow right here. It looks like she’s hooked up with some interesting folks already!

Nostalgia

Posted in Diaries by Sabina Zuniga-Varela

I was just looking over the photos of our shoot and I got really nostalgic. The smell of the fog machine, the different voices, the early mornings and following Boril as he operated the camera around the room as I looked over his shoulder. It was an amazing experience that I will never forget and I am so excited to see what the end result will be. I have spoke with John Lore, the D.P., and I think we are aiming to get this baby born by July, 9 months after it was conceived!

It can only imagine the craziness that will begin once John, Cameron and I start editing and are in a room for hours on end!

I remember saying that I wouldn’t do it again because of all the stress and planning and well…WORK! But I would do it again in a heartbeat, I actually prefer being behind the camera rather than in front. So I do hope that one day I will get to work on another film and have another great experience with another amazing cast and crew.

Ruebush in “Death and the Maiden” at Vortex Theater

Posted in Cast, Elsewhere by Cameron Goble

Dru Ruebush — Paul of In The Wind — will play the role of Gerardo in Death and the Maiden. From the Vortex Theater website:

In a South American country, a woman survivor of imprisonment and torture from a right-wing dictatorship believes she now has her torturer in her home and at her mercy. What ensues is a three-person dance of accusation, denial, justice, and mercy.

The show begins May 9 and runs through June 1. Call the Vortex at 505-247-8600 for reservations and ticket information.
