Two Engine Flameout
I haven’t heard any music in the past three days, except for the theme to H. R. Puffnstuff. It’s running over and over in my head. I think it’s a coping mechanism for dealing with stress.
Puffnstuff was watching too,
and knew exactly what to do.
He saw the witch’s boat attack
And knew the boy was fighting back.
We learned on Friday night that our leading lady, Anna Felix, was suddenly unavailable due to illness serious enough to land her in Urgent Care. Anna is a sweetheart, strong of spirit, and everyone who knows her loves her. For hours, the news was that there was no news. Kim Larraccio kept Anna company while Sabina and I worried about her and focused on the next step.
To keep our spirits up, we spent the past three days working on the set, in anticipation that she’ll make a miraculous recovery. We’ll have the set ready to go for when she arrives, instead of running around, trying to come to grips. We work the set, we make the film, we believe it’s going to happen. There’s nothing else to do.
He called his Rescue Race Crew,
As often they’d rehearsed,
And moved to saved the boy that flew
BUT! Who would get there first?
Anna found her way back home, and we’re all concerned that stress is beating her down. We got the set up. John Lore lit the place to his satisfaction, so I’m confident that we are ready to shoot some footage. The lunch I’d prepared was well-received. That’s the good news, and I’m sticking to it.
Other news? The scheduling issue is up in the air — we lost an entire weekend due to many SNAFUs — and I need to ground it immediately. The issue of the budget reared its ugly head on Sunday. Lunch next weekend needs to be about twice as big to accommodate the additional crew and cast that will be on set. And I didn’t get to use my shiny rented microphone package.

Who’s your friend when things get rough?
H R Puffnstuff
He can’t do a little ‘cuz he can’t do enough.
