K.I.P.S. has a perfectly good ring to it

In the interest of keeping it positive, as our director so wisely put forth a while back, three happy things:

• This is my first diary post, which is in its way an act of faith in myself, this long-term project, and technology;
• I uploaded a picture to my WordPress profile in which I look ridiculously happy; and
• I’m stating publicly that I am having a blast working on the sweet-yet-somehow-creepy song that Paul sings a few times during the film. The model for it is the Jerome Kern/Ira Gershwin tune “Long Ago (And Far Away),” which is quoted in the original script and of which you can hear a bit on iTunes if you’re curious. That era, that style, those deliciously manipulative diminished chords… Yeah…
