Many Hands Making Lights Work

Posted in Elsewhere by Cameron Goble

Albuquerque is all a-buzz with the Duke City Shootout — that’s the film making festival I’ve gone on and on about in the past — and the In the Wind crew have deeply involved themselves in the fun. As usual.

It was awesome, for example, to tune into CK Barlow’s improvisational music scene at the Insomnia Lounge. A little trancy, a little electronicy, a little avant-gardey: I’d put her in the same field as Varese, Louis and Bebbe Barron, and Frank Zappa’s latter works.

(The Insomnia Lounge, by the way, in the brainchild of Writer/Producer Eric Whitmore. He pulled much more than his own weight this year, I can tell you.)

Director of Photography John Lore recently wrapped on his 12th short film, “Maconies List,” which will premiere at the DCS gala. There’s a promo deal for cheap tickets, even!

Still Photographer John Maio caught all the action with his signature candid approach — have a look at his on-the-spot galleries.

And those are just the ones I’ve heard about. I’m tracking down more furious film activities from other ITW crew, so expect updates soon.
